Privacy Policy
There is no account here, so there is not much to collect. This page explains exactly what there is.
What we collect
No account, no name, no email, no password, unless you choose to write to us through the contact form. Using the downloader itself requires nothing from you except a link.
Three things are handled while you use the site:
- The video link you paste, which is used to perform the lookup and then held in a server cache for up to one hour so a popular link is not fetched repeatedly
- Your IP address, held briefly in memory to enforce the per-visitor rate limit and to block abuse, then discarded
- Standard web server logs recording the page requested, the time and a truncated address, kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting
What we never do
We do not sell or rent data to anyone. We do not build a profile of you. We do not keep a history of what you downloaded, because there is no account to attach it to and no database to put it in. We do not ask for your Instagram or Facebook credentials, and no legitimate downloader ever will.
Cookies
The site sets a small number of functional cookies only. One remembers your chosen language so you are not sent back to English on every visit. One protects forms against cross site request forgery. Neither is used for advertising or tracking across other websites.
If advertising is shown on the site, an advertising partner may set its own cookies under its own policy. You can block cookies in your browser settings, although the language preference will then reset each visit.
The contact form
If you email us or use the Contact page, we receive whatever you write, including your name and email address. That message is used to answer you and is kept only as long as needed for that. It is not added to a mailing list.
Data leaving your browser
When you download a video, your browser may connect directly to Meta content servers. Those connections are between you and Meta, and Meta privacy policies apply to them, not ours. Where the file is streamed through this server instead, Meta sees our server rather than you.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and similar laws you may request access to, correction of or deletion of personal data we hold about you. In practice we hold almost nothing, so most requests will be answered by confirming that. Write to hello@example.com and we will reply within a reasonable period.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, tell us and it will be deleted.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version appears on this page. Material changes will be noted at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
